DAN Hosts Open House at New Shelter

TJO Animal Control and Adoption CenterOver 70 visitors attended the open house sponsored by The Dog Adoption Network at the 3 yr. old T.J. O'Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center.

After visiting cats and dogs available for adoptions, many visitors received refreshments in the Community Room where a new public service announcement for the shelter was being played. In addition to the exhibits, many watched an old fashioned "Our Gang" classic movie featuring Pete the pitbull terrier. Pete was one of six pitbulls performing in "The Little Rascals" movies and was one of the first dogs registered by The American Kennel Club in 1931. Many people looking at the Pitbull informational exhibit entitled "Once Revered, Now Feared", were surprised to learn that the Buster Brown dog and the RCA Victor dog listening to the old victrola were also pit bulls.
