Southwick/Westield Shelter Continues to Fundraise

Animal Control Officers Pat and Ken Frazer and a dedicated group of volunteers continue to have meetings and raise money in hopes of building a new no-kill shelter for their area. Events include ongoing candybar sales, spaghetti suppers, walk-a-thon and a proposed car show.

Enfield PETCO Recognized

Larry RinaldiManagers Larry Rinaldi, Leona Wargat,Team Leader Jacqui Leopold and Store Associates of Enfield, CT Petco were presented DAN's Animal Welfare Award on March 27, 2007. The Enfield store was recognized for their continued support in their efforts to improve animal welfare and promote adoptions.

 

Part of their annual contributions to DAN allowed our organization to purchase a brand new commercial high efficiency washer for TJ O'Connor Adoption and Animal Control Center.

Feline Friends Inc. Exhibit at Enfield PETCO

Feline Friends Exhibit at PetcoSusan Plourde, President of Feline Friends and volunteer Yvonne raised funds and awareness regarding their efforts to adopt many of their feline friends. Their mission is simple: to place homeless and unwanted cats and kittens into safe and loving homes.

BOSTON - Dog owners from across the state, including Springfield and Westfield, yesterday told legislators to scrap a proposed ban on pit bull terriers, saying it would be both discriminatory and nearly impossible to enforce.

Lawmakers are considering a possible statewide ban on pit bulls as part of an effort to give cities and towns more control over potentially dangerous dogs."
