On June 26, DAN launched its Shelter Fund by having a press conference on television, doing radio interviews, and being interviewed by the Springfield newspaper. We must admit at this point that many animal lovers have not contributed.

With the downturn of the economy, the brand new Cottage Street Shelter has no funding for veterinarian supplies or equipment. The education room will be barren without audio visual equipment to teach visiting groups and children about animal welfare and pet responsibility. The grooming area will not have equipment or supplies to make dogs more presentable for adoption.
