Things Looking Up At the New Center

Board of Supervisors at TJOAt the July meeting of the Board of Supervisors of the Thomas J. O'Connor Adoption and Control Center, Chairman Allan Chwalek reported a budget surplus of more than $40,000.00. This was good news to the rest of the Board representing cities and towns participating in the regional animal control program.

As a result of the additional funds, Chairman Chwalekhas increased the job responsibilites of Susan Dziczek, the current Volunteer Coordinator to include the role of Director of Administration. Susan has already begun dog training classes, Dog I, and Dog II with a discount for dogs that have been adopted from the Center. She also hopes to invite all area veterinarians to a "get acquainted night" at the Center. She stated to the Board that "there's alot of talented people out there in the community" and would like to utilize them in their different areas of interest ranging from dog walking to various committees such as marketing, special events, landscaping, computer brochures etc. If you are at least 16 years of age and have two hours a week to assist the new Center contact Susan at 413-781-1484.
