TJO Continues a "Peachy" Event
For
the past few years the staff and volunteers of the T.J. O'Connor Adoption
and Control Center have put up an informational booth at the annual
Peach Festival in Wilbraham, MA. This year was no exception! Led by
Director of Administration Susan Dziczek, the shelter volunteers set
up a tent, held a raffle, gave out literature and most importantly
showed off some really cute puppies looking for homes.
Sue
feels strongly that getting out into the public is essential in bringing
new adopters and volunteers to the Center. In addition to the Peach
Festival, Sue set up a booth for T.J.O. at the Westover Air Show and
has tentative plans for the Eastern States Exposition.

Animals Injured by the Hundreds Due to Florida Hurricanes
According to an article written in Sterling Animal
Shelter's August Newsletter, Hurricanes Charlie and Frances have not
only taken their toll on property and people. They have caused the
death and injury of hundreds of that state's pet population.
Among emergency services personnel traveling to Florida
to help injured and displaced animals is the Sterling Animal Shelter
Executive Leigh Grady and veterinarians Dr. David Rousseau and Dr.
Rachel Francis. Reports from the area state that hundreds of pets have
been injured by flying debris causing emergency workers to use duct
tape because of large and multiple wounds.

Pet Disaster visit their website at www.sterlingshelter.org and
