Local and National Efforts to Save Katrina and Rita Animals

With two hurricanes hitting the Gulf Coast, animal welfare organizations across the country have sprung into action.

In the aftermath of hurricane Katrina and Rita thousands of companion animals are stranded , injured, and without food or shelter.

The A.S.P.C.A., Noah's Wish, and the Houston A.S.P.C.A are among the organizations providing temporary shelter, medical treatment and relocation for these rescued animals.

The Little State That's Big on Dogs

Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union is one place that dogs are not left behind. The Ocean State's towns, parks, and beaches are full of canine activity in and out of the water!

Ben's 5th Annual Dog Show and Fundraiser

Ben's Dog Show & Fund Raiser started in year 2000 as a backyard pet show for Ben's friends and neighbors to raise money for local non-profit animal shelters. Now at age 15, Ben is trying to raise more money for this worthy cause. The goals of this event are to generate funds to support the Animal Rescue League of Southern Rhode Island, the Colonial Basset Hound Rescue and HSUS Disaster Relief fund for Katrina Animals.

Events included "Most Obedient Dog Contest", "Dog/Owner Look alike Contest" and "Loudest/Weakest Bark" Contest!!

Prizes were awarded to all participants along with food and drink for owners.
