Spay/Neuter Your Pet

Help fight pet overpopulation by spay/neutering your pet. Some local organizations offer low-cost spay/neutering programs.


"Concerned Citizens for Animals is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization dedicated to reducing pet overpopulation by offering a low-cost spay/neuter program for people in need of financial assistance. Approximately 30 veterinarians in the greater Springfield area participate in this program." For more information please call (413) 565-5383.


FACES Dog Rescue offers a Pitbull Protection Program. If you meet BOTH of the following criteria, spay/neutering will be free of charge:

  1. Must be a resident of Hampden County MA
  2. Must have adopted a pitbull or pitbull mix from T.J. O'Connor

For more information please call (413) 783-3078. Leave a message with your name and address indicating you are interested in the Pitbull Protection Program.


The MSPCA offers a Spay/Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP) to low income pet owners. Through this program, eligible pet owners can recieve special discounts on spay or neuter surgery at any MSPCA animal hospital or at other participating veterinary hospitals and clinics throughout the state.

A form must be completed and returned to any MSPCA. These forms can be obtained at the MSPCA offices or downloaded from their web site at www.mspca.org

The long-awaited over-population license plate is a reality. This plate will provide much needed spay/neuter funds to rescue groups. For more information please contact your local Registry of Motor Vehicles.
