Misty

A few months after my family's dog died, we set out to find a pet to keep us and our other dog company such as the old dog did. Originally, we planned to get a kitten or cat. We searched pet shops and classified ads, but none really caught our eyes. Most of what we found were purebred kittens, which was as opposite as you can get to our idea of just a little friendly pet that would get along well with our other dog.

Finally, my mom, brother and I went to an animal shelter in Chicopee, we finally found exaclty what we were looking for, except in the form of a dog. He was available the next morning, but when we got there the next day he had already been adopted, so, just to make sure we didn't over look another special dog, we looked around again.

We were about to leave, when I saw and fell in love with a timid, seemingly old dog by the name of Misty. She was a shy little thing shivering and very afraid. Well, after a bit of trying to persuade my mother, she was finally convinced to adopt the dog.

After a while of having this rather robust, shy dog, we finally happened to see why she was so neurtoic when my brother walked into my mother's room to see three little puppies. This was no more than three weeks after we adopted her, so this kind of shocked us.

Well, we found wonderful homes for her puppies (named Itsy, Bitsy, and Spider), and though she remains timid and very shy, for the past six years she has been a full family member and she is one of the best things that ever happened to my family.
