Pheonix
Almost 2 years ago my family and I were looking to
adopt a dog. We had adopted one before but it didn't work out because
that dog attacted my son while he was sleeping. We were kind of weary
about adopting another one but we knew that it was better then buying
one due to the dogs in the shelters have had a rough time and we could
give it a good home with room to play and lots of love.
My
wife and I started looking in the local paper and came across an ad
for Becket Animal Control. They had a 1 1/2 year old pure bred yellow
lab. I thought it was too good to be true so I went to look at it. He
was the most beautiful dog I had ever seen. When I walked up to the
cage that he was in he started jumping about 6' in the air. He just
couldn't wait for someone to pet him. After waiting for the Animal Control
Officer to interview us and other families they called us and told us
we were the ones they chose.
We had him for about a year and a half or so before
he passed away. He died of kidney failure due to a deer tick. I spent
almost $1000 trying to save him, but the vet couldn't figure out why
his kidney's failed until after an autopsy. We still miss him very much.
The time he spent with us was the best time of my life. He was my best
friend.
To anyone that is thinking of adopting please do, but
choose a pet very carefully. Make sure that you know what you are in
for. Remember, pets need us just as much as we need them. If you love
them and keep them safe they will be your best friend for life.
