Lady

In June of 1996 I adopted a little dog from a no- kill shelter in Houston, TX. She is a Doxie/Beagle mix who I named Lady. At the time I adopted her, she was skin and bones and was afraid of her own shadow. She had kennel cough, a yeast infection in both ears and ear mites. She didn't know how to walk on a leash, she shook anytime anyone came near her and if anyone raised their hand to pet her on the head, she cowered. She also had scars on her belly that looked like someone had cut her. It took about a month of constant holding, petting and loving before she finally realized that I would not hurt her and that I was madly in love with her.

I have now had her for nearly six years and she is the most loving dog I have ever had. While she is still afraid of most men, once she gets to know a person she loves that person like crazy. She loves to give kisses and gets just as excited when I come home from a day at work as she does if I have only been gone for 10 minutes. She is the light of my life and is spoiled rotten, as she deserves to be. She has a toy box full of toys, that are usually all over the house. She has her own pillow in front of the window so she can watch people walk past, but she still sleeps in my bed with me every night. She is the light of my life and I adore her.
